- 1) Have you checked the manual of your IDE card?
- 2) Does it say that it supports FAST serial.
- 3) Does it say that it has the 16550 Chip for serial comm?
- 4) If you look at the card, do you see the numbers 8250 or 16C550?

- You may have bought an IDE card with the 8250 UART and not the fast
- serial chip 16C550.
